Good central location - right next to the bus station at Merthyr Tydfil. The hotel offers excellent value for money for anyone wishing to visit Cardiff and the Brecon Beacons.

Nothing actually, it was nothing like the internet site's impression.
Parking too far from Hotel, although appeared safe but was a little apprehensive to leave the rental car there all night. The cutlery was not clean and the cups for coffee/tea old and chipped. Very basic accommodation. Very noisy street, drunken people outside swearing and yelling and that was a Wednesday evening. We didn't sleep very well at all.

The staff were extremely helpful and friendly. The rooms were very clean, warm and comfortable and free wifi is always a bonus. The breakfast was good and the evening meals also very nice. I'll be staying there again and would recommend it to anyone looking for somewhere to stay in the area

What we liked about the Castle Hotel was the friendly welcome and the helpfulness of the staff. Good breakfast, clean and comfortable room. However if we were staying for a longer period we would have requested a plug for the sink in the bathroom.Would not hesitate to stay here again.

It had a nice relaxed atmosphere and the staff were very friendly.
It does need some modernising and my room needed decorating. The council road sweepers using leaf blowers to clear litter at 6.30am was a bit noisy.

Didn't stay very long just overnight and it was good for me. Very helpful lady on reception who was a relative of the owner, she was friendly, polite and a pleasure to talk to. Breakfast was a selection from a buffet I had bacon and eggs both of which were ok. I have been used to a more staff based service and therefore slightly disappointed by the whole sort yourself out for everything style. Room rate did not include breakfast this was an extra cost added to the rate. Room was clean and tidy with good selection of towels. Soap and shampoo sachets included, no toothpaste but the tesco is 2 mins up the road. Tea and coffee making in room. Basic entertainment , old style tv and that's about it. It would be fair to comment that the room in general was adequate for the night and I have no complaints. If I were planning a longer stay I would look for a livelier hotel with a higher rating and more modern feel.
Was a bit lifeless for a Saturday night in the hotel bar, just a couple of local drinkers . a bit drab for a hotel bar, this area could do with something to give it a lift.
